Advisor in International Law
Miloš Ivković is an International Arbitrator based in Austria and Professor at Washington University School of Law. He focuses his practice on serving as external legal advisor to governments, state-owned entities, and international business leaders on the subjects of public international law, amendments to national legislation and diplomatic disputes. Miloš has been regularly and personally tasked with preparing peaceful strategies aimed at advancing international cooperation and the rule of law. He also provided advisement to the U.S. Congress Tom Lantos Human Rights Commission on the abuse of children and their rights, human trafficking, and modern slavery – as well as testified as expert in front of international legislators. Miloš was also involved in achieving the release of US journalists imprisoned in Africa.
International Arbitration and Mediation
Miloš has furthermore strong experience conducting international arbitrations in a wide range of industries, including mining, oil and gas, banking and finance, patent infringement, tourism, etc. His expertise includes advising host states and international investors engaged in investor-state arbitral proceedings (e.g. under bilateral investment treaties).
University Lecturer in Law
Miloš is committed to assisting new generations of legal professionals. After becoming a part of academia at Washington University School of Law, Miloš has regularly been engaged as a scholar at various universities around the world. Students under his supervision achieved significant success in leading international competitions. His academic fields of expertise are public international law, international dispute resolution and comparative civil procedure. At Washington University he teaches introduction to human rights and international criminal law.
Pro bono engagements
Milos supports diverse social responsibility initiatives, providing pro bono representation in international human trafficking cases. He has been actively engaged in addressing remedying efforts relative to significant human rights violation cases in Africa and Europe, therewith having the privilege of working with the US Congress as well as political leaders across the world. Milos remains active in and passionate about confronting the abuse of underage children through slavery. He serves on the board of the Interparliamentary Taskforce on Human Trafficking.
